Scramble

There are three poles, a jump and a barrel .Start at the start/finish line , weave the poles, go over the jump, continuing the weave and go around the barrel, take the jump again and continue to weave the poles back to start/finish line. The rider may start from either side and will finish on the opposite site.

Speed event riders may use any headgear that is not abusive, including hackamores, snaffle bits, hackamore bits, tie downs, running martingales. Single reins or contest reins may be used.  Western or English saddles may be used. Spurs and crops may also be used but not in front of the cinch.  Please remember that this is supposed to be fun for the rider and horse.

Horses may not be run in the parking lot or outside the arenas.  All contestants will be courteous of others. Leg protection for both horse and rider may be used in speed events.

Single Pole

The single pole race has one pole at the opposite end of the arena from the Start/Finish line.  The rider simply races to the pole, goes around it and heads back to the Start/Finish line.  This is a very fast easy event.

Birangle

Two poles at the far end of the arena are set about 20' off the fence (or 90' apart) The rider may make either two right hand turns or two left hand turns.  The pattern starts in-between the two poles and takes a left hand turn around the left pole, then a straight line to the opposite pole where another left turn is taken around that pole.  The pattern may be run with either left hand or right hand turns.

A fall with either horse or rider is a 'no score'. The shoulder and hip of the horse must touch the ground or the rider must be separated from the saddle and the rider touch the ground.
